Christian Financial Advisor: Aligning Your Financial Decisions with Your Faith

What Does it Mean to Work with a Christian Financial Advisor?

A Christian financial advisor brings a biblical worldview to every aspect of financial planning. Along with providing expertise in retirement planning, investment management, tax planning, estate planning, insurance, and charitable planning, they encourage you to evaluate every financial decision through the lens of Scripture and faithful stewardship. What does that mean? Very simply, a Christian financial advisor will help you answer the question, “What does the Bible say about how I should invest, manage my finances, or plan for the future?” For a believer, this perspective changes everything.

Working with a Christian financial advisor means partnering with someone who understands that money is about more than numbers; it’s about how those numbers connect to the purpose you were created to live. Instead of a single question like “How can I accumulate more?” the conversation expands to “How can I faithfully steward what God has entrusted to me, right now, in this season?” That question shapes everything from how aggressively you save to how generously you give.

That might look like:

  • Building a more intentional plan for generosity, rather than treating giving as an afterthought
  • Reframing retirement as a new season of purpose and service, instead of simply leisure
  • Recognizing the kingdom purpose already present in your current work
  • Exploring faith-based investment strategies that align your portfolio with your convictions

It also means having honest conversations about how God may be calling you to use your financial resources to care for your family, bless others, make an eternal impact, and prepare the next generation to steward well.

Certified Kingdom Advisor® (CKA®)

Many Christian financial advisors, including our team, have earned the Certified Kingdom Advisor® (CKA®) designation, or specialized training in applying biblical wisdom to financial planning. You'll find more on what that designation means and why it matters later on this page.

There’s a particular kind of peace that comes from knowing your money and convictions are finally pointed in the same direction. Clients often describe it less as relief about their finances and more as relief about themselves. It’s a quiet confidence that comes from knowing every account, every gift, every plan is part of the same story they’re trying to live out. That’s what it feels like to have a financial plan that honors God instead of one that simply performs well.

At the end of the day, a Christian financial advisor is someone who brings both technical expertise and spiritual conviction to your kitchen table conversations. Every member of our team strives to be someone who can tell you whether your portfolio is diversified and pray with you about a decision that’s kept you up at night. That combination is hard to find, and it’s exactly what makes this kind of partnership different: your financial plan and your faith aren’t kept in separate rooms. They’re allowed to inform each other, the way God intended every area of our lives to be shaped by His truth.

How is a Christian Financial Advisor Different?

On paper, financial planning looks the same no matter who you sit down with: a spending plan, an investment strategy, a retirement timeline, an estate plan. While the components may look similar, the questions helping to define those plans can be very different depending on the worldview guiding them.

Traditional financial planning typically starts with “How do I build the most wealth?”

Christian financial planning starts with “How do I faithfully steward what God has already given me?”

That shift in starting point changes the advice you get at nearly every stage of your financial life.

Here’s a closer look at how the two approaches compare.

Area Traditional Financial Planning Christian Financial Planning
Primary Goal Build and preserve wealth. Faithfully steward the resources God has entrusted to you.
Definition of Success Financial independence and accumulating enough assets. Faithfulness, wise stewardship, generosity, and honoring God while providing for your family.
Role of Faith Personal religious beliefs may not be incorporated into financial decisions. Biblical principles shape decisions across every area of your financial life.
Generosity Often viewed as a tax benefit or a singular financial goal among many. Seen as a central part of faithful stewardship and intentional planning.
Investing Investments are selected primarily based on financial objectives and risk tolerance without regard to underlying company behavior. Investment strategy can also reflect your Christian values through faith-based investing that is intentional about which companies you own.
Retirement Focus on leaving work and maximizing lifestyle and leisure. Focus on preparing for your next season of purpose, ministry, and service.
Financial Conversations Emphasis on income, savings, investments, taxes, and estate planning. Includes all of those topics while also discussing stewardship, legacy, generosity, and God's calling.
Legacy Passing wealth efficiently to future generations. Passing both financial resources and an inheritance of faith and generosity to the next steward.
Purpose of Money A tool to achieve financial goals and security. A resource entrusted by God to provide for your family, bless others, and advance His Kingdom.
Long-Term Perspective Primarily focused on this life and future financial security. A tool to achieve financial goals and security. Considers both earthly stewardship and eternal impact.

Biblical Stewardship & Financial Planning

At Strategic Stewardship®, we believe financial planning begins with a simple biblical truth: God owns it all, and we are His stewards. Every paycheck, investment account, business, and financial asset is ultimately a resource entrusted to us by Him.

That's why our planning process is different. While good financial planning certainly includes investing wisely, minimizing taxes, preparing for retirement, and protecting your family, we believe those decisions should also reflect your faith following Jesus. We want every financial decision to answer a deeper question: "How can I honor God with what He has entrusted to me?"

Scripture reminds us, "Moreover, it is required of stewards that they be found faithful." (1 Corinthians 4:2). Faithfulness, not simply financial success, is the measure of wise stewardship.

We also believe wise counsel is one of God's gifts. Proverbs 15:22 tells us, "Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed." Our role is to walk alongside you, equipping you to make thoughtful, informed decisions about retirement, investing, generosity, taxes, and legacy—all through a biblical worldview.

Whether you're preparing for retirement, selling a business, raising a family, or thinking about the legacy you'll leave behind, our goal is the same: to help you steward God's resources wisely so your financial life reflects both your values and your faith.

Who Can Benefit from Working With A Christian Financial Advisor?

Faith doesn’t pause when you open a bank statement or review a 401(k). Anyone who desires to align their financial decisions with their faith can benefit from working with a Christian financial advisor. Whether you're running a company, leading a team, raising kids, or approaching retirement, the question is still the same: how do I use what God has given me well? A Christian financial advisor meets you in the specifics of your season of life because stewardship looks different depending on your circumstances.

Christian Business Owners

Stewarding an Organization

Owning a business creates unique financial opportunities and challenges. Your personal finances and business finances are deeply connected, making it important to have a coordinated strategy. A Christian financial advisor can help you think through the many decisions that come with running a business, including:

  • Owner compensation and tax planning
  • Stewarding the employees God has provided
  • Being God’s resource to financially provide generously for your employees
  • Retirement plan design for you and your employees
  • Retirement plan design for you and your employees
  • Succession and business exit planning
  • Charitable giving strategies
  • Estate planning

We view all of it through a biblical lens, because how you build, steward and eventually pass on a business is as much a stewardship decision as it is a financial one.

Beyond the technical planning, we encourage business owners to view their companies as more than income-producing assets. Your business can become a platform to glorify God by serving customers with integrity, supporting your local community, and creating lasting Kingdom impact. Scripture also reminds business owners of their responsibility to care well for the people God has brought their way. That means thinking intentionally about how you compensate employees fairly, provide meaningful benefits, when possible, create opportunities for them to flourish, and lead with honesty, humility, and compassion.

As Christian business owners ourselves, we understand the challenges of balancing profitability with faithful stewardship. We believe a thriving business can be a powerful tool for providing for your family, blessing your employees, serving your customers, and advancing God's Kingdom.

Christian Executives

Stewarding Influence & Significant Compensation

Many executives receive complex compensation packages that include bonuses, restricted stock units (RSUs), stock options, deferred compensation, executive retirement plans, or other specialized benefits. These benefits can cause tax surprises and planning opportunities. Coordinating these opportunities with tax planning, investment management, retirement planning, and charitable giving requires specialized expertise.

A Christian financial advisor partners with you to wisely steward the resources God has given to you while keeping your long-term goals and faith values at the center of every decision. Together, we challenge you to think beyond career success and consider how God may be calling you to use your influence, resources, and leadership to make an eternal impact.

Christian Employees

Stewarding Daily Work & Faithful Service

Most Christians serve the Lord not by leading a company, but by faithfully serving as employees in their workplaces. Whether you work in healthcare, education, manufacturing, technology, ministry, government or another profession, your work matters to God. Scripture reminds us that we are ultimately working for the Lord, and our finances should reflect that same perspective.

As an employee, you may be making decisions about employer-sponsored retirement plans, stock purchase programs, health savings accounts, pensions, insurance benefits, or compensation packages. These opportunities can have a significant impact on your long-term financial health when they are coordinated with a comprehensive financial plan.

A Christian financial advisor helps you make wise financial decisions that support your family’s goals while encouraging faithful stewardship of the resources God has entrusted to you. Together, we seek to cultivate habits of generosity, contentment, and wise planning so that financial success becomes a tool for serving others rather than an end in itself. Whether God calls you to remain in your current role, pursue new opportunities, or step into leadership, our goal is to partner with you in stewarding every season of your career with wisdom and purpose.

Christian Families

Stewarding the Home & the Next Generation

Whether you're saving for college, planning for retirement, caring for aging parents, or simply trying to make wise day-to-day financial decisions, Christian families often want more than technical financial advice—they want guidance that reflects their beliefs.

A Christian financial advisor guides your family in creating a comprehensive financial plan while encouraging generosity, preparing the next generation to become faithful stewards, and making financial decisions that honor God. We believe some of the greatest lessons children learn about money come from watching their parents faithfully steward God's resources. Our goal is to equip you to build not only financial security, but also a legacy of faith, generosity, and wise stewardship that can influence generations to come.

Christian Retirees

Stewarding a New Season of Purpose

Retirement raises a different question for a follower of Jesus than the one most retirement plans are built around. It's not just "Do I have enough?" but "What is God calling me to do with this next season?" A Christian financial advisor helps you build a distribution strategy that provides for your needs while also making room for continued generosity, ministry involvement, and time invested in family and community.

We also help you navigate the practical decisions this season brings, things like required minimum distributions, Social Security timing, health care and long-term care costs, and how to structure gifts to family or ministries in a tax-wise, intentional way. Above all, we want retirement to be something you steward well, not simply a finish line you cross.

At Strategic Stewardship®, a Christian financial advisor partners with you to steward the resources God has entrusted you with while keeping your long-term goals and faith values at the center of every decision. Together, we challenge you to think beyond career success and consider how God may be calling you to use your influence, resources, and leadership to make an eternal impact. Christian business owners, executives, families, employees and retirees integrate their faith into every financial decision. Our desire is to encourage you to faithfully steward the resources God has entrusted to you so you can provide for your loved ones, bless others generously, and make an eternal impact.

What does working with a Christian financial advisor look like?

The following fictional story illustrates how a Christian couple might experience the financial planning process as they seek to align their finances with their faith. While James and Rebecca are fictional, the situations they encounter reflect many of the conversations we have with Christian families.

What Does a Christian Financial Advisor Do or What Services Do You Provide?

What Does a Christian Financial Advisor Do?

A Christian financial advisor provides the same comprehensive financial services you would expect from a traditional financial planning firm—but with one significant difference: every recommendation is made through the lens of biblical stewardship.

At Strategic Stewardship®, we believe financial planning is not simply about accumulating wealth or reaching retirement. It is about faithfully managing everything God has entrusted to you. Scripture teaches that God owns it all, and we have the privilege and responsibility of stewarding His resources wisely. That conviction shapes every conversation we have and every recommendation we make.

Our role is to bring clarity and confidence to your financial life by coordinating every area of your stewardship into one comprehensive plan. Rather than looking at investments, taxes, retirement, insurance, and estate planning as separate topics, we ensure they work together to support your family, your goals, and God’s purposes for your life.

Our Services Include:

Comprehensive Financial Planning

We coordinate every area of your financial life, including generosity, employee benefits, risk management, capital management, legacy, and income distribution, into a single, unified plan.

Retirement Planning

We help you prepare for more than a number. Retirement, for us, means planning intentionally for a season where your time, talents, and resources take on new purpose.

Investment Management

We build diversified portfolios around your goals, risk tolerance, and time horizon, with faith-based investment strategies available for clients who want their portfolio to reflect their convictions.

Tax-Efficient Planning

We look for proactive ways to reduce unnecessary taxes, so more of what you have goes toward your family, your generosity, and your goals instead of being lost to inefficiency.

Estate & Legacy Planning

We help you think beyond asset transfer to the financial, spiritual, and charitable legacy you want to leave behind.

Generosity Planning

Whether it's your local church, a ministry you care about, or a giving strategy like a donor-advised fund, we help make generosity a deliberate part of your plan, not an afterthought.

What makes our planning process unique isn't simply the services we provide, it's the foundation on which they're built. Every recommendation is guided by biblical principles of wisdom, stewardship, integrity, generosity, and long-term thinking. Faithfulness, not just performance, is the goal.

What is Faith-Based Investing?

Faith-based investing begins with the belief that God owns everything, and we are simply stewards of the resources He has entrusted to us. Therefore, investing is not merely about maximizing returns, it is about faithfully managing (stewarding) God’s assets in a way that honors Him.

Scripture does not condemn investing. In fact, Jesus frequently used investing and business examples to teach spiritual truths. In the Parable of the Talents (Matthew 25), two servants faithfully invested what had been entrusted to them and were commended with the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant.” The third servant who buried his resources out of fear was rebuked. This illustrates that God calls us to wisely steward and multiply resources rather than allow fear to prevent faithful action.

However, Christians should also consider how those resources are invested. Every investment represents ownership in a business. As owners, even fractional owners, we should care about whether the companies we invest in create products and provide services that contribute to human flourishing or profit from activities that conflict with biblical values.

Faith-based investing seeks to align investment decisions with Christian convictions by:

  • Pursuing competitive long-term financial returns.
  • Seeking to avoid companies whose primary business activities clearly conflict with biblical principles.
  • Actively engaging with organizations that may not yet fully align with biblical values but demonstrate a genuine willingness to improve.
  • As shareholders, Christians have a unique opportunity to encourage corporate leadership toward practices that better uphold human dignity, ethical business conduct, and responsible stewardship. Rather than simply walking away, faithful investors can sometimes use their ownership to promote positive change through things like proxy voting and corporate engagement.
  • Embracing and supporting businesses that contribute positively to individuals, families, communities, and society.
  • Recognizing that investing is one aspect of faithful stewardship alongside generosity, wise planning, and responsible living.

This isn’t about finding “perfect companies,” because none exist in a fallen world. Rather, it’s about thoughtfully seeking alignment between one’s faith and one’s financial life, acknowledging that our investment decisions are another opportunity to glorify God.

Ultimately, faith-based investing asks a simple question: “How can I steward God’s money in a way that reflects God’s heart?”

What is a Certified Kingdom Advisor® (CKA®)?

A Certified Kingdom Advisor® (CKA®) is a financial professional who has completed specialized education in biblical financial wisdom, demonstrated technical competency in financial planning, agreed to uphold a biblical code of ethics, and is committed to integrating Christian values into professional advice.

The designation is awarded through Kingdom Advisors and reflects a commitment to serving clients through the lens of biblical stewardship.

A CKA® is trained to help clients think beyond financial success alone by asking questions such as:

  • How can my finances honor God?
  • How can I steward wealth faithfully?
  • How can my financial plan support generosity and Kingdom impact?
  • How can my investment strategy align with my Christian convictions?

The credential does not replace traditional financial planning education or professional licenses. Instead, it builds upon those qualifications by adding a framework rooted in Scripture and biblical stewardship principles.

A CKA® seeks to integrate technical excellence with biblical wisdom, equipping clients to make decisions that align their financial lives with their faith. Working with a CKA® means your advisor has been trained to ask the questions above as naturally as they ask about your risk tolerance or retirement timeline. Financial planning and biblical stewardship aren't treated as two separate conversations. They're the same conversation.

They want a trusted advisor who understands that financial decisions influence every area of life, from providing for a family and preparing for retirement to practicing generosity and leaving a legacy. Our goal is to partner with our clients in the stewardship of the resources God has given them, with wisdom, purpose, and faithfulness.

Although we serve clients across the United States through virtual relationships, Georgia is home. Common Questions About Christian Financial Advisors

Do Christian financial advisors only work with Christians?

At Strategic Stewardship®, we believe every person is created in the image of God and possesses inherent dignity and value. Because of this, we are honored to serve individuals and families regardless of their faith background.

We believe that biblical wisdom provides a solid foundation for financial decision-making because it addresses timeless principles such as stewardship, contentment, generosity, wisdom, diligence, and responsibility.

We enjoy working with individuals who are seeking to improve their financial lives and who are open to understanding the principles that guide our advice. Our role is not to pressure clients into a particular belief system, but to serve them with excellence, integrity, and wisdom while being transparent about the foundation from which we provide advice.

Are Christian financial advisors fiduciaries?

Being a Christian financial advisor does not automatically mean an advisor is legally held to a fiduciary standard. The term "fiduciary" has a specific legal meaning related to an advisor's obligation to put a client's interests first.

At Strategic Stewardship®, our advisors hold the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification, and CFP® professionals are required by the CFP Board to act as fiduciaries when providing financial advice. Beyond legal requirements, we believe operating with a fiduciary mindset reflects the biblical responsibility placed on those who have been entrusted with influence and responsibility.

Scripture reminds us that those who teach and lead are held to a higher standard (James 3:1). We believe financial advisors have been entrusted with something deeply personal—the financial resources, goals, dreams, and concerns of the families they serve. Therefore, we seek to provide advice that reflects honesty, humility, transparency, and a genuine desire to serve our clients well.

Is faith-based investing right for me?

Faith-based investing is a deeply personal decision that requires thoughtful consideration.

We believe Christians should prayerfully consider how their investments align with their values, because investing represents ownership. Every investment decision involves supporting businesses, leadership teams, and activities that influence the world around us.

However, we recognize that Christians may have different convictions, and we respect that investment decisions require personal discernment. Our role is not to tell every client how they should invest, but to equip them to make informed decisions and provide investment options that align with their beliefs and financial goals.

If you are wrestling with whether faith-based investing is right for you, we would welcome the opportunity to have a conversation to explore the questions you are considering.

What should I look for in a Christian financial advisor?

Choosing a financial advisor is a weighty decision, and the label "Christian" alone should not be the only factor considered.

A trusted Christian financial advisor should demonstrate:

  • Biblical principles: Do they have a clear understanding of stewardship, generosity, contentment, and wise financial management?
  • Professional excellence: Do they have the education, experience, and credentials necessary to provide quality financial advice?
  • Integrity: Are they transparent about their compensation, recommendations, and potential conflicts of interest?
  • A servant's heart: Are they focused on helping you accomplish your goals, or are they primarily focused on growing their own business?
  • Humility: Are they able to celebrate when another advisor is serving you well?

A Christian financial advisor should not view other advisors as competitors. If another advisor provides wise counsel and caring well for your family, that is something worth celebrating. The ultimate goal should always be that families receive excellent guidance and become better stewards of the resources God has entrusted to them.

Can I work with a Christian financial advisor virtually?

Yes. Technology has made it possible to build meaningful relationships regardless of location.

At Strategic Stewardship®, we currently serve clients across the United States. Our planning process allows us to work with individuals and families who share our desire to integrate faith, wisdom, and financial planning, regardless of where they live.

While geography may have once limited access to a trusted advisor, today families can receive comprehensive financial planning and investment guidance through secure virtual meetings while still developing a personal, long-term relationship.
